WAY TO MAKE TIHAR / DIPAWALI MEMORABLE
Tihar / Dipawali is a five day festival, celebrated to mark the triumph of good over evil. It's far observed every year sooner or later during mid-October to mid-November in many countries together with Nepal,Singapore, Malaysia, and India.
Simply as Christians regard Christmas as a special and essential excursion, Tihar is a festival that has as much meaning for Hindus. Follow these simple steps .
1 Know about Tihar : Tihar is also known as Dipawali , the "dip" that means "light" or "lamp", and "awali" that means "row". This "row of lights" is represented by way of lighting lamps everywhere during Dipawali . Dipawali includes 3 to 5 days of celebrations (the length depends on in which you come from or derive the celebratory traditions from) .
- Kaag(Crow) tihar : The first day of the festival is called Kaag Tihar or Kwah Puja .Crows are worshiped by offerings of sweets and dishes placed on the roofs of houses.
- Kukur(Dog) tihar : The second day is called Kukur Tihar (worship of the dogs). People offer garlands, tika and delicious food to dogs.
- Gai(cow) tihar and Laxmi puja : The morning of third day is Gai Tihar (worship of the cow). In Hinduism, cow signifies prosperity and wealth. On this day people show their gratefulness to the cow by garlanding and feeding them. Houses are cleaned and the doorways are decorated with garlands made of sayapatri and makhamali flowers.
In evening the goddess of wealth Laxmi is worshipped and thanked by lighting lamps(diyo) or candle
on doors and windows for welcoming prosperity.
Deusi and Bhailo with light and fireworks is played from this day. People celebrate it with playing musical instruments singing and dancing.
-Gobardhan puja : This day is also known as Goru(ox) tihar. In this day cow dung is taken as reresentative of mountain and is worshiped.
-Bhai Tika : The last and fifth day of tihar is called Bhai tika . It is celebrated by putting tika to the forehead of brothers from sisters to ensure long life .
2 Go shopping : Buy ornaments , lights and utensils on the first day .
3 Clean house : Do laundry and clean all rooms.

5 Light festival lamps during festival : In the night time, light small oil lamps (called "diyas") and put them around the house. Turn all the lighting on and light some candles. The lamps symbolize knowledge which brings approximately internal peace and fights off any traces of darkness and lack of information.
6 wear new clothes and jewels
7 Bake sweets and snacks
8 play games : play Deusi and Bhailo, card games ,etc .
9 care your siblings : Bring presents and tell them you love them and wish a long life.
